Beginning in the 3rd quarter and carrying over into the 4th quarter, I participated in a program called Mentor Program.

In the 3rd quarter, you spend 6th and 7th hours working in the seminar portion with Ms. Huhner, which includes

career searching and personality tests to determine what you may be interested in, and a field trip to St. Olaf and

the U of M to study in the libraries and get a feel for what independent studying in a real college atmosphere is like.

In the second portion of the class, you let Ms. Huhner know what you are interested in and write a research paper

on what you learned in the seminar portion, then she sets up an interview with a company pertaining to your interests,

and if that goes well, you can begin your mentorship at the worksite. I am doing my mentorship at James Barton

Design Build Inc, a company based in Apple Valley that does residential remodeling and maintenance. They are one of

the few true in-house residential design-build companies in the Twin Cities and are frequently showcased for their

work. I am working with a drafter/estimator and a designer in order to gain some experience and knowledge in the

field, as I may be pursuing a similar career path in the future.
